A homage is nothing more that something inspired by or being referential to something that came before it. I wouldn't say he fails at being a homage to G1 Metroplex. There's nothing more Transformers than having 100 of the same character, who are all unique bots in their own ways. theyre just gently themed after those classic characters, but are still new characters in their own right. i think he's inspired the same way Hot Shot is inspired by Hot Rod, and the way Armada Scavenger is inspired by g1 constructions. Which i think i disagree with, so long as im interpreting your comment correctly… i think Megalo is inspired by G1 metroplex, less aims to replicate him, hence the drastic change in alt mode and the silly robot extension gimick. I think what he's implying is, Megalo Convoy was intended to be a g1 Metroplex homage, but since it failed at being a G1 homage, this titan class will also fail to homage the g1 character since its near identical. maybe theyll pull a reissue like they did with Devy? but i dont have high hopes for a whole new mold any time soon. even though he's nearing 9 years old, Metroplex still at least has a generations titan. Its so hard to tell if this will happen at all, like eventually yea, but the fact that they made sure kingdom slammer compatible with the T30 one makes me think theyre going to focus on other titans for a while still. that paired with having a Megalo Convoy as a kid, im thinking im all in on the weird nostalgia bait alone. My dad worked in oil refineries his whole life in some pretty major areas, so ive got a soft spot for things like bucket wheel excavators. im on the bandwagon of not liking base modes cause theyre just splits robots, so big proper alt modes are exciting imo, even if the ark was a little hinky. TBH im just happy that it seems like we're leaving city formers behind for at least a little bit.
